Brazil have announced a 23-member squad for the upcoming Copa America. Manager Dorival Junior left out a number of players including Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.
Brazil finished runners-up in the last edition as Lionel Messi lifted his maiden Copa America title in 2021. This is Dorival Junior’s first big test as Brazil manager as the onus will be on him to end Argentina’s dominance.
Another Manchester United player Antony also couldn't find a place while Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has also missed out. Brazil Football Federation issued a statement.
"The coach of the Brazilian Men's National Team, Dorival Júnior, announced this Friday (10) the call-up for the Copa América, in June, in the United States. Before that, those called up will play two friendlies – one against Mexico, on the 8th, and another against the United States, on the 12th.
"He invited 23 athletes to the ceremony held at the CBF headquarters. The city of Orlando (USA) will be the base of the Brazilian team in preparation for the Copa América. The presentation of players defending European teams is scheduled for May 30th, while Brazilian football athletes arrive on June 3rd.
