Today’s comic by Matt Bors is John McCain's grim healthcare vote:
• Hillary Clinton’s as yet untitled memoir will be out in September. Sources told The Hill that she will double down on Russian interference in the election that put Donald Trump in the White House:
Privately, Clinton has told friends and longtime associates that she “wants the whole story out there” as she rushes to tweak and put the finishing touches on the book due out in September
“She really believes that’s why she lost, and she wants to explain why in no uncertain terms,” one longtime ally said. “She wants the whole story out there from her own perspective. I think a lot of people are going to be really surprised by how much she reveals.”
The ally said the book of personal essays will be a “bombshell.”
• CDC: American Indian women suffer second highest homicide rate in U.S. In the first study of its kind, the Centers for Disease Control reported Monday that between 2003 and 2014, 240 American Indian and Alaska Native women were victims of homicide in 18 states. That is a small percentage of U.S. murders during that period, but those slayings occurred at a rate of 4.3 per 100,000 population, surpassing all but one other racial or ethnic group. Non-Hispanic black women had a rate of 4.4 per 100,000.

• Here’s a day to remember, ironically given the decision to bar transgenders from serving:
• Having made “excellent progress,” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise is released from hospital after six weeks treatment. Scalise and four others were injured June 14 when James. T. Hodgkinson opened fire with a rifle on a Republican practice session for the annual Congressional Baseball Game. One of the bullets struck Scalise in the hip, fragmented and profoundly damaged bones, organs, and blood vessels. When he arrived at the hospital, Scalise was in imminent danger of dying.
• Texas newspapers no long have any staff cartoonists. The Houston Chronicle laid off its Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, Nick Anderson, last week. That spurred The Washington Post to publish a piece saying that despite being “the second largest state in the union — and the home of so many historically colorful political voices,” Texas is now without a political cartoonist on staff at any of its newspapers. The American-Statesman, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Dallas Morning News have all eliminated staff cartoonists on their papers as well. In a statement, the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists labeled the move a “short-term cost cutting maneuver” leaving Texas with zero on-staff cartoonists to “provide local visual commentary and hold the state government accountable to its citizens.”
• Here’s everything Elon Musk wants Tesla to do by 2020: Included on his long list are finishing the giant Nevada battery-making gigafactory, a semi-truck, a pick-up truck, a compact car, and extending the range of Tesla cars on a single charge to 1000 kilometers (621 miles).
• Meanwhile, Britain plans to ban all gasoline- and diesel-fueled cars and vans by 2040.
• Why are Danes so happy? Because their economy makes sense:
The World Happiness Report puts Danes consistently in the top tier. Twice in the past four years Denmark came in first. Danes also report more satisfaction with their health care than anyone else in Europe, which makes sense, since happiness is related to a sense of security and others being there for you. A fine health care system makes that real.
The Danish approach is especially interesting to Americans because of the U.S. suspicion of centralization. Danes prefer to administer their health care locally. On the other hand, they’ve found that the fairest and most efficient way of paying for their system is through income tax, most of which is routed through Copenhagen.
The system delivers quality health care to all and costs Denmark only two-thirds what the United States spends.
On today’s Kagro in the Morning show, Zombie Treasoncare voting is on, which costs us our visit with Joan. But we give you TMI on procedure, anyway. McCain does the McCain thing, and is lionized for it. Racist weirdos on a MF-ing boat. Rick Perry is Teh Dum. Donald Trump: American PsychOTUS.
