Trump’s voter commission asked for names of all Hispanic voters in Texas

President Trump’s now-disbanded voter commission reportedly asked the state of Texas for records that identify all voters with Hispanic names.

A researcher for the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity bought nearly 50 million records from the state and explicitly asked for the “Hispanic surname flag notification” to show up in the information, according to The Washington Post.

Delivery of the voter data to the commission was halted after a lawsuit was filed by Texas voting-rights advocates.

Some feared the information collected could be used to suppress voter turnout.

President Trump created the body to substantiate unproven claims that millions of illegal immigrants voted in 2016. It was disbanded Jan. 3.
