Signals City National’s commitment to serving the nation’s capital

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank, America’s Premier Private and Business Bank®, announced today that it is opening its first full-service regional banking center as part of the Los Angeles-based bank’s expansion into the nation’s capital.

Located near Dupont Circle at 2001 M St. NW, the new Washington, D.C. Regional Center will deliver City National’s relationship-focused private and business banking capabilities to entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and their families and to their small and mid-size businesses, as well as nonprofit organizations, law firms, accounting firms and more.

A seasoned team of more than a dozen City National financial experts will advise on all aspects of growing, protecting and transferring client wealth.  This team includes Robin Burton, who manages the private banking team and led the company’s initial expansion into Washington D.C. one year ago; Chris Ragheb, who leads the commercial banking team; and Juan Jara, who leads personal and business banking. In addition, Chris Hartman recently joined the bank as a senior vice president to expand private banking.

It is the second new regional banking office for City National since the bank merged with Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in November 2015 and part of the growth strategy of RBC in the USA, which includes not only City National Bank but also RBC Wealth Management-U.S. and RBC Capital Markets in New York.

“Together, City National and RBC offer a unique and compelling combination in the United States of premier financial capabilities and unparalleled personal service, financial strength and security,” said Russell Goldsmith, chairman and CEO of City National Bank and chairman of RBC Wealth Management-U.S. “This new regional center in Washington, D.C. will enable City National and RBC to provide clients in the Washington Metro Region with City National’s exceptional relationship banking and RBC’s wealth management solutions and capital markets expertise. We are particularly pleased to be bringing City National’s unique and customized banking services to so many financial advisors and clients of RBC Wealth Management, who have such a strong presence in seven offices located in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.”

City National has $48.7 billion in assets, 4,500 colleagues and 72 offices in six states. It also manages or administers $64.9 billion in client investment assets. City National is a subsidiary of RBC, one of North America’s leading diversified financial services companies, which serves more than 16 million personal, business, public sector and institutional clients around the world. RBC has a significant presence in D.C., Maryland and Virginia, including nearly 70 financial advisors in seven offices there.

With more than 9,000 square feet, City National’s new regional center will offer a wide array of account options and personal banking services, including mobile banking, online banking with bill pay, credit cards and residential mortgage loans. The regional center also will provide businesses with credit lines and term loans, equipment financing, international banking and foreign exchange, and a full suite of treasury management solutions. There will also be an ATM.
